The Overhang

The Overhang is a two-day convening for forecasters, rationalists, futurists, and optimists, held September 19–20, 2026 at the American Geophysical Union building in Washington, DC. It mixes programmed talks with breakout sessions and unconference-style discussions, with the goal of connecting people working on technology in the Bay Area with people working on policy in DC.

Manifest x DC

Manifest x DC was a one-day forecasting and prediction market unconference held on November 8, 2025, spun off from Manifest in Berkeley. About sixty people spent the day in two group houses in Logan Circle and Kalorama, with talks from Robin Hanson and Peter Wildeford, panels on political forecasting and the future of Manifold, a live forecasting competition, and an afterparty. The organizers wrote up an after-action report, and I wrote about it for Above the Fold.
